Types of Massage
Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. The four strokes of Swedish massage are:
A smooth, gliding stroke, generally used in a Swedish massage, using both hands to relax soft tissue.
The squeezing, rolling and kneading of the muscles that usually follows effleurage during Swedish massage
It encompasses deep, circular movements applied to soft tissue causing the underlying layers of tissue to rub against each other. Increases blood flow, and can break down scar tissue.
Swedish massage technique executed with cupped hands, fingers or the edge of the hand with short, alternating taps to the client.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue is a technique that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia.
On-site Massage/Chair Massage
Chair Massage is a type of massage administered while the client is clothed and seated in a specially-designed chair. It allows the massage therapist to massage the muscles of the back, neck, shoulders, arms and hands.
Hot Stones
Hot stone massage is the use of smooth heated stones. We use basalt stones, black volcanic rocks that absorb and retain heat. The heat is deeply relaxing and helps release tight muscles.
Foot Scrub
The Foot Scrub uses the combination of heat and a sugar scrub. This add-on service is a good way to not only relax tired feet, but to exfoliate them as well.
Hot Towel/Cold Stone
The combination of both the hot towel and the cold smooth stones, is a great facial treat. This add-on service helps open up the sinuses and to relax the face.
Maternity Massage
This massage is for Mothers-to-be, who will be receiving a Swedish Massage while laying on their sides. Maternity Massage is a great way to help ease the discomfort that comes with the pregnancy. Please consult with your doctor, before scheduling an appointment.
Side-laying/Sitting Massage
Side-laying Massage is good for people who have problems laying on their back or stomach or women who have a big bosom. During the Sitting Massage, the client will be asked to undress and, while covered with a sheet, is going to be seated using the massage table as leverage.
