FAQ’s
Do I need to make an appointment or can I just walk-in?
At the moment it is by appointment only. Just call to check for availability.
How early should I arrive for my massage?
We ask that clients arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their session. This will give new clients time to fill out a client intake form and have a consultation with their therapist on the type of massage they’d like.
May I talk during the massage session?
This is your decision, it will NOT be rude. We encourage clients to speak to us about their level of comfort. If you feel any pain or discomfort, just let your therapist know immediately.
What are your policies on canceling? / What if I’m late for a massage?
We understand that things happen, please give a 24-hour notice if you need to cancel an appointment. If there is no notice you will be charged for the appointment you have missed. If you will be late, out of courtesy, we ask you call to inform us of how late you will be. If you are late for more then 15 min, your appointment will be rescheduled for another time. If you arrive less then 15 min late, you may or may not get to receive the full amount of time for the massage.
What about tipping? Am I even allowed to?
If you like the service you received, tips are always appreciated.
What should I expect on my first visit?
Upon your arrival to Mana’s Massage, you will be greeted by a massage therapist. You will be handed a client intake form that will be needed to be filled out. The intake form helps us assist you on what type of massage you may need. After completing the form, you will be lead to a room where the therapist will have a consultation.
Do I need to remove all of my clothing?
You can undress up to the level of your comfort (We recommend you leave your undergarment on). If you feel uncomfortable with undressing, the therapist will be able to massage with your clothes on. But please note, that you will be unable to experience the full benefits of the massage.
Is it offensive to tell the therapist about the pressure?
Please let your therapist know during the massage if the pressure needs to be deeper or lighter. Never endure a massage that is too deep or too painful. You will never offend a therapist by asking them to go lighter.
I felt soreness the next day after I had deep tissue massage. Is that normal?
Yes, this is normal and can happen quite often. Deep Tissue is when you massaging deep within the muscles, and at times can be painful during the process caused by knots and tension. Please inform your therapist if the pain is too much.
I am pregnant; will I still be able to get a massage?
Before scheduling an appointment, please consult with your doctor; no matter which trimester you are in. Mothers-to-be are usually not recommended to have a massage when they are in there 1st trimester. Mothers-to-be that are in the 2nd or 3rd trimester are able to receive a massage. During the massage, the mother-to-be will lay on her side with two pillows; one in between her legs and another pillow to hold on to (this pillow is optional). Maternity massage helps with the pain and stress that comes with the pregnancy. During the massage, the mother-to-be will be covered at all time.
Do I have to inform the therapist about my current or past medical history?
It is recommended to do so. Massage affects the body, and the therapist must know what precaution he/she must take for the safety of you and the therapist. Please list any medical history in the client intake form. You can even discuss this with your therapist during the consultation.
